We purchased this horse stable for our daughter (7 1/2 yrs). She had played with my niece’s barn (made by Breyer) and had asked for one for Christmas. The Breyer barn was too expensive so I chose this one. I am glad I did as this seems better designed and constructed. As none of these toys is inexpensive, I was also concerned that this might be too young for her. I am happy to say that this was the star attraction on Christmas morning. She and my son (5 yrs.) have played with it every day since Christmas. It is a great design (they love to open all the doors or let the horses heads peak out) and seems to be very well-made. I do recommend buying extra fencing for the corral (Breyer makes it) as the one that comes with it is a little short. Also, we did buy some of the Breyer horses from Target. I am very pleased with this purchase and highly recommend it. We have several products from the Melissa and Doug company and all have been well-designed and of high quality.
VERY well built (as is anything by Melissa & Doug). It’s certainly large enough to fit the standard-sized (large) Breyer horses. We bought it as a gift for our nine year old daughter who LOVES horses. She has been using cardboard boxes to make her own “stables” for the past six months and has been begging us to get her a “real stable” for all of her toy horses. This one is PERFECT! I like how it folds up for smaller storage, but has plenty of room for two kids to play with it when it’s opened up.
I’ve been a big fan of Melissa & Doug toys for years and have always been fully satisfied with the quality, design, creativity and “playability” of their products. My granddaughter loves horses and this stable has become the play-center of her world (at least for now). It looks like the real stables she has seen and that helps her really get into the imagination-world when she plays with it.
